Jeong Sewoon has first known through Kpopstar 3, then became popular by participating Produce 101 Season 2 survival by Mnet. He came up in the 12th position, and almost became a member of Wanna One. He is my favorite contestant in PD 101, by the way. And last year, Starship finally debuting Jeong Sewoon as a soloist.
Tracklist:
01. Baby, It`s U (PROD. 키겐, earattack) *Title
02. Toc, toC! (PROD. MAKTUB)
03. Irony (PROD. 프라이머리)
04. No Better Than This (PROD. Joombas)
05. I Love You (PROD. 고닥 of 마인드유)
06. Close Over (PROD. 강이채, 정세운)
As a soloist, Jeong Sewoon has a different genre compared to another Starship soloist like Yoo Seong Woo, the one who is also known as Kpopstar participant. Sewoon gives us light vibes, his smooth voice is so healing. His song is good to listen on any kind of day. Before "AFTER", on August 31, 2017, Sewoon released a debut mini-album: "EVER". His debut is quite successful, since the title track "Just U" directly occupied the top position of real-time Korean song online and 2 times became the first nomination in M Countdown. Congratulation~
And come closer to my review~
1. Baby It’s U
Is a slow RnB, mixed with the EDM. Opened with guitar acoustic melody, Baby It's U really heals because the techno instrumental is quite balanced with his soft voice. I bet that this song will goes up to the chart, maybe top 5. Cause definitely good. Better than his debut title, Just U. I found that Baby It's U is so catchy and addicting. This song was produced by Kiggen, a South Korean musician. I'm glad that this song is the title. Honestly, I'm so excited to see Baby It's U MV on youtube. I love the music, the MV's dominated by refreshing color. I really love the acoustic in the opening. Makes me want to produce a vacation video or vlog, and with Baby It's U as the background sound. Overall, the track is fancy, fresh and makes me want to repeat again and again. Especially the acoustic melody on the beginning. [Rating: 9/10]
2. Toc, toC!
Has more upbeat and groovy than the previous track. The melody kinda reminds me to his first debut title, Just U. There's no guitar sound yet so smooth and really nice groovy music. I don't believe at first that this song is produced by Maktub, the group that is known its ballad song, Marry Me. It has slow melody but just a little. Very match to listen to this at a coffee shop. [Rating: 7/10]
3. Irony
Another RnB, similar to Toc, toC! but way faster. The EDM element really dominant here. Suit to listen to this at a party event than a coffee shop. The lyrics say "you're such an irony, babe" and repeated so many times. [Rating: 7/10]
4. No Better Than This
Here back the guitar instrument! The 4th track that produced by Joombas. Even though still has hip-hop vibes, this song has slow beat and sweet, especially when the song goes to the reff. The "no better that this" line is my favorite part. [Rating: 8/10]
5. I Love You
This track is a ballad. At first, I didn't expect anything on him singing a ballad song, but his voice is pretty good. Such a beautiful lullaby if you listen to this song when you exhausted. I bet this song will give anyone an encouragement to say "I LOVE YOU" to the beloved person. [Rating: 8/10]
6. Close Over
The last track is a ballad song again but a way slower than the previous track. With a mysterious sound at the beginning, and then acoustic slow beat, and the violin melody! So mesmerizing. Besides the title track, this Close Over is my favorite song in this album. Definitely the last but the best. Sewoon, please sing this kind of music, your voice is really lit! [Rating: 9/10]
Rating: 5/10 [Immediately deleted from device]
Rating: 6/10 [Not my cup of tea]
Rating: 7/10 [Good vibes but nothing special]
Rating: 8/10 [Will listen to this twice, or more]
Rating: 9/10 [Already favorite]
Rating: 10/10 [Masterpiece! Will be repeated thousand times]
